THE CGP SOUNDS STORY FROM TOMMY
Two years ago, with the help of my management team, I started my own record label called CGP Sounds. I wanted a chance to put some of my music out there independently and get things rolling before signing any young guitar players. To date, we’ve released four albums, including my new Christmas album, Christmas Memories, which is out today.
One of the things I love about having my own label is that it gives me such freedom to create. I can collaborate with other artists or try out new ideas, then release the albums directly to you. Just Passing Through is a great example of that. Ian Cooper and I had great fun recording the songs with a lot of spontaneity. That record may have never been released if it hadn’t been for GCP Sounds, and it was the first official release on the label.
The vision for this label came from my first independent release, Live & Solo in Pensacola. That was the first album I ever did without a label…we just put it out there and people seemed to love it. The songs on Pensacola and the joy I felt from that performance is what started the inspiration behind the album It’s Never Too Late. That album is very close to my heart, and was our second release on CGP Sounds. As word got around about my label, I suddenly found that there were so many musician friends who could really benefit from CGP Sounds. Andy McKee’s Live Book is the first album by another artist that I was able to help release. Having just toured with Andy, I got to see how incredibly talented he really is and how that album represents him so well.
Last December, I did my first ever Christmas Tour. It was one solo set and one Christmas set with guest musicians…Annie Sellick on vocals, Pat Bergeson on guitar and harmonica, and fellow CGP, John Knowles on guitar. On the road, we had so much fun that we just went straight into the studio to make Christmas Memories. It was a pure joy to create and I hope you feel that when you listen to it. May it bring you and your family joy and happiness for many holidays to come.
There are a limited number of physical copies of Live & Solo in Pensacola and Just Passing Through left. Those albums will always live in the digital universe, but we do not plan on making anymore physical copies of those releases. If you want a copy of the inspiration behind CGP Sounds and a copy of the first release on CGP Sounds…you might want to visit my webstore soon. I hope you pick up a copy of Christmas Memories as well.
Last but not least, I wanted to let you know about some other amazing projects in the works. One of which is a duet project. I’ve already recorded a few tracks with some amazing musicians, and I can’t wait to share those songs with you. Also, be on the look out for a new live album. That one is going to be a real treat…I promise. Thank you for letting me share the inspiration and the journey of CGP Sounds. I am so thankful for all of your support. I couldn’t do what I do without your love, and I am so grateful for it.
THANK YOU AND WITH LOVE…TE CGP!!!!
