Earlier this month, I hosted my guitar camp in gorgeous Havana, Cuba. It’s such an honor to be able to spread the joy of music across the world, but Cuba was especially unique. The culture is so vibrant and alive and the people are warm and welcoming. I love to bring people joy and happiness…through the universal language of music. You don’t need a translator when you have a guitar in your hands! Thank you Pancho Amat and his amazing band, Frank Vignolo, Vinny Raniola, Dreamcatcher Events, and all of the campers for yet another amazing camp….and big thanks to the city of Havana! We couldn’t have done it without all of you!!!!
One of my greatest moments in Cuba was having the great Pancho Amat rearrange one of my songs and turn it into to true Cuban music. Check out the video of myself and Pancho playing Papa George on our last night in Cuba.
“Hi folks, Tommy Emmanuel here. I want to tell you about my camp for 2017, July 24th to 28th near Carmel, California. It’s a beautiful location right by the beach. My instructors will be Brooks Robertson, Pat Bergeson, and Richard Smith. So come along and be prepared for four days of guitar heaven chock-full of learning, jamming, playing, eating, sleeping, drinking together. We’re going to do spend 4 days immersed in music and guitar. That’s what these camps are all about!
“These four days of guitar playing and music are for players of all levels, and we are so looking forward to seeing you there!”
We are thrilled to announce the release of the DVD – Tommy Emmanuel – Music Gone Public. This DVD is a collection of “greatest hits” from Tommy’s previous PBS airings. Plus, it contains seven never before seen performances and musical collaborations. It also features Tommy, himself, telling the stories behind the shows and the songs. This DVD is available for a limited time only and is exclusively available through PBS now. The only way to get a copy is to pledge and support the stations that are airing Tommy Emmanuel – Music Gone Public. A list of stations and markets that are airing Music Gone Public is listed below. Check the stations’ websites for an exact airing schedule.
The first season of Music Gone Public-Curated Concerts for Public Television was met with enormous success. The season featured performances by artist such as Tommy Emmanuel, Frankie Moreno, Frank Vignola, Joe Craven, and Antsy McClain – just to name a few. Emmanuel’s program was a bit unique. Rather than highlight one concert, his episode combined many of his great performances for PBS over the last decade from previous features such as Center Stage, Tommy Emmanuel & Friends – Live from The Balboa Theatre, and Live and Solo from Pensacola, Florida.
