We’re starting to announce even MORE new shows in 2020!!
This January before I go on the Transatlantic Sessions Tour in the United Kingdom, I’ll be doing a few solo shows in wonderful country of Ireland. I’ll be performing in Dublin, Limerick, Belfast, and Cork. I will have the always amazing Clive Carroll as support.
Click the link below for a full list of tour dates, and I hope to see you on the Endless Road!
We are delighted to announce the Fab news that the UK Premiere will take place at the Liverpool Film Festival on November 2nd!
Having this screening in the country he once called home could not be more fitting, especially in the city that birthed the band whose music has threaded through Tommy’s life, from his ever-evolving show-stopping Beatles medley to his recent beautiful tribute to George Harrison, ‘Hope St,’ named after the Liverpool street and featured on our film’s soundtrack.
I am very excited to be returning to the wonderful country of Canada in 2020. I’ll be in Mississauga (outside Toronto), Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria, Vancouver, Sherbrooke, and Ottawa. Joe Robinson will be support for the March shows. Gareth Pearson is support for the May shows. A full list of tour dates is below, and I hope to see you out on the Endless Road!
We are very excited that the US premier of Tommy Emmanuel – The Endless Road will be at the 50th Nashville Film Festival!
The films premier is Saturday, October 5th at 3pm. Tommy and the filmmakers will be in attendance, with a Q&A session immediately following. There will be an encore screening of the film on Monday, October 7th at 1pm
The album of the month for July is Christmas Memories. We are also having a sale on the All I Want For Christmas Tab Book. It is never too early to starting checking people off your list….and maybe you will find a stocking stuffer for the Tommy fan while you look around the web-store.
I am coming back to Colorado this August with two very intimate shows at the Soiled Dove in Denver on August 6th and 7th. This is a much smaller room that I normally play. Tickets go on-sale tomorrow at 10:00am local time. Each shows will just be me playing solo acoustic, and there will be no support acts either. It’ll just be me! I had a wonderful time in Colorado these past few weeks. The Guitar Camp in Vail was absolutely amazing! The show in Breckenridge was fun. I also had a wonderful time performing with David “Dawg” Grisman in Fort Collins, Steamboat Springs, and Boulder. I had so much fun that I decided to come on back!!!
In just 5 years, I’ve presented over 11 guitar retreats (or
camps). I’ve hosted them in the Catskills Mountains, the California coast, the highlands
of Scotland, the magical island of Cuba, the banks of the mighty Mississippi, the
Louisiana swamps, my homeland of Australia, and the Rocky Mountains. As much as
I enjoy hosting these retreats, it does take a ton of time, energy, and work to
pull them off. I also want some time to dream up a NEW kind of guitar
experience to share with the world! With that said, it’s time to me take an
extended break from hosting guitar retreats. Before taking this hiatus, I’m
going to host one more retreat in one of my favorite places on earth, and we’re
going to ring in 2020 with style. ‘The Tommy Emmanuel Holiday Guitar Getaway’ is
heading to Hawaii Dec. 28, 2019 – Jan. 1, 2020 on the island of Maui at The
Royal Lahaina Resort. That’s right…one more guitar
retreat in HAWAII!
It will be 4-nights of finger pickin’ in paradise with guitar workshops
throughout the day and intimate performances every night. The dynamic jazz duo
of Frank Vignola & Vinny Raniolo will be returning as
instructors. One of my favorite country pickers, Brent
Mason, will be
teaching for the first time at one of my retreats along with Hawaiian Slack Key
guitarist Jeff Peterson. We’ll also have a VERY
special guest instructor – Hawaii’s own Jake
Shimabukuro on ukulele. There will be a Hawaiian Luau, beach jam sessions,
and an exclusive New Year’s Eve celebration and show. They’ll also be
opportunities to jam with myself and the other instructors and one-on-one
mentor sessions. Mark my words…this will be the GREATEST retreat I’ve ever
hosted in one of the most beautiful places on earth!
Pricing for this retreat will be a bit different than previous
ones. We wanted to make this camp as affordable and family friendly as
possible, so hotel accommodations and meals are NOT automatically included.
There is a separate registration for the retreat and staying at the Royal
Lahaina Hotel where all these activities will be taking place. The resort is
giving all retreat attendees a significant discount, but you must register for
the retreat first. However, you are free to stay off site at a different hotel,
Airbnb, or anything of your own choosing. If you would like to eat lunch and
dinner with the group, there will be a separate pricing for that option as well.
All that register by July 31st will receive:
-10% discount on your retreat registration and meals (discount
does not apply to Royal Lahaina hotel reservations).
-Exclusive
Tommy Emmanuel “Repeat Offenders” T-Shirt
-Exclusive and Signed “Tommy Emmanuel Guitar Getaway” Event Poster

These guitar retreats have been a joy to host, but it’s time for
me to take a break. I will be hosting them again, but I just can’t say when
that will be. I want to thank all the instructors who have taken part in these retreats,
but most of all I want to thank all of you that have attended them. It’s been a
privilege to play, teach, grow, and learn from all of you. I want to especially
thank the ‘REPEAT OFFENDERS”. I love you all, and I wouldn’t be here without
you! I hope you can all join me in Maui, where we all can “hang loose” for one
more retreat!
Remembering Chet on his birth date today… His brilliance, his kindness and his example to us all can never be underestimated. He set a high standard to follow and was true to his calling. It didn’t matter if you were the waitress in Cracker-barrel or the President, he treated everyone the same, and had a big heart for his fellow man.
Smokey Mt Lullaby was the last song we recorded together. It was in the early hours of the morning and it was one take. He treated me like family and I will always be grateful to him, Leona and Merle for their kindness and encouragement. Every time I play one of his tunes, it’s like he lives on through his music and comforts me inside. We owe him so much!
Every month this year we are offering an album of the month at a reduced price. This month it will be Little By Little. This is a double album that has many Tommy originals on it that you will recognize!!
Papa George is a song that Tommy wrote about George Harrison and it is on Little by Little as well. Take a look at this live performance of Papa George….
I am so very proud and honored to announce that the Australian Premier of “Tommy Emmanuel – The Endless Road” will be at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival on Friday 26th July. Go check it out!! There has been an amazing group of people that have been working very hard on this film and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!!
This song was written by John Knowles. It was one of my very favorite songs to play each night on the Heart Songs tour. This album was so much fun to make and this is a gorgeous tune. It’s descriptive yet romantic. Just like Paris!! Enjoy…..
John Knowles and I both are so thankful for all the amazing responses we have had to our Heart Songs album. There are a few more shows this summer on that tour and we will both be performing at The Chet Atkins Appreciation Society (CAAS) convention in Nashville, TN. John is also a guest instructor at my guitar camp in Vail. Here is a live version of “Walkin’ My Baby Back Home” even before the Heart Songs album was released. This video was from my show at Cumberland Caverns in 2017. What an amazing place to see a show!!
So very excited to be part of this event!! Join the fun on the Keeping the Blues Alive at Seat cruise in 2020!! The jam sessions on this ship are going to be amazing!! See below for a full artist line up!!
I hope you enjoy this video of David “Dawg” Grisman and I performing the song, “Standing Rock” from our album Pickin’. This June, David and I are will be performing in Fort Collins, Boulder, and Steamboat Springs. Tickers are on-sale now. I also have a solo show in Breckenridge along with the Guitar Camp in Vail. June will be a wonderful time to be in Colorado!
Here’s a video of John Knowles and I performing “Somewhere” from the Heart Songs album. John and I spent a lot of time working up this arrangement. Our combined love and respect of Leonard Bernstein’s work is a reason to raise our game and make our version of this West Side Story love song shine with reverence! This July, John and I have two more shows coming up in Homer, NY and a performance at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society Convention (CAAS) in Nashville, TN. We hope to see you out there!
